Raw Story Investigation: Pentagon Domestic Propaganda

April 20, 2008 The New York Times broke the news that the Pentagon (and members of the Bush Administration) had been coordinating with retired military analysts on talking points to cover in their media appearances, as part of a ‘psyop’ on the American public to sell the ‘post-9/11 world’, the ‘War on Terror’, Guantanamo, torture, and the continued occupation of Iraq. These ‘analysts’, many of whom had undisclosed conflicts of interest such as financial ties to defense contractors, appeared over 4500 times in the media, as part of this campaign. The media outlets responsible for participating in the program- which includes the NY Times- have generally not acknowledged any fault on their own part, and some commentators attempted to spin the psyop as simply the Pentagon telling their side of things. A DOD Inspector General investigation found no wrong doing on the part of the Pentagon, but that report was later found to be so flawed, it was retracted and removed from the DOD’s website. More recently, RawStory.com has published the results of its own investigation into the program, which has uncovered further evidence, as well as indications that the Pentagon’s efforts to manipulate public opinion are continuing under the Obama Administration.

Oct 23, 2009 FBI whistleblowers Sibel Edmonds and John Cole were interviewed by Scott Horton for AntiWar Radio. This post preserves the transcript, with links to the original and the audio. Edmonds and Cole discuss criminal networks and activities they became aware of during their time at the FBI. These networks involved members of Congress and State and DOD officials, and their counterparts in Israel, Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Criminal activities include trafficking in nuclear secrets, bribery, blackmail, money laundering, using radical Islamists as proxies and more. FBI investigations into these activities were consistently obstructed and shut down by higher-level officials.

This segment covers testimony regarding US and Turkish government officials and other entities engagement in “… practices and policies that were inimical to American interests and had, in fact, resulted in both the direct and indirect loss of American lives.” To summarize this, Edmonds says, “The best way to describe it is Cold War is not over.” These ‘practices and policies’ include: CIA radicalizing Muslims for use in proxy wars contributed to 9/11; providing protection and aid, including US sanctuary, for Fetullah Gulan- a founder of radical Madrassahs; trafficking in nuclear secrets and outing Brewster Jennings as a CIA front company in Summer 01, when Marc Grossman discovered it was getting close to the nuclear trafficking network.

This segment covers testimony regarding Behrooz Sarshar, an FBI translator who Edmonds took to the FBI’s Inspector General and the 9/11 Commission; Sarshar had personal knowledge that the “FBI received information in April 2001 from a reliable Iranian intelligence asset that Osama bin Ladin was planning attacks on four to five cities with planes. Some of the people were already in the country, and the attacks would happen in a few months.”

Beck and Scheuer: Bin Laden Attack Needed for the Good of the Country

July 1, Glenn Beck hosted Michael Scheuer, former head of the ‘Alec Station’ Bin Laden unit. Scheuer claims “The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama Bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.” while Beck nods approvingly.

June 10, 2009, Beck smeared the entire 9/11 Truth Movement by falsely claiming that the despicable racist Holocaust Museum shooter Von Brunn is a hero of ‘9/11 Truthers’, and that Truthers are “like Al Qaeda! They’d like to destroy us, and they will work with anyone. There are also people like white supremacists or 9/11 truthers that would also like to destroy the country. They’ll work with anybody they can.”

The 9/11 Truth Movement is working to establish Truth and Justice- we are demanding answers and accountability and the movement as a whole is non-violent.

If Beck agrees with Scheuer, it would seem that he himself is an advocate of violence and destruction as a political tactic, i.e. terrorism.
